Privacy Policy

THE CELLAR is operated by ONE PLATE CATERING & EVENT MANAGEMENT (“we,” “us,” or “our”). We respect your privacy and handle personal information in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy laws, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Information we collect

We collect information needed to process orders and provide customer service, including your name, email address, telephone number, billing and delivery addresses, order history, and communications with us.

We may also collect age-verification information and technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, and website activity. We limit the information collected to what is reasonably necessary. Payments are processed through Shopify’s secure checkout and its available payment services.

How we use information

  • Process payments and fulfil orders.
  • Arrange delivery or pickup and verify eligibility to receive alcohol.
  • Respond to enquiries and resolve order issues.
  • Prevent fraud and maintain website security.
  • Meet legal, accounting, and regulatory obligations.
  • Send promotional communications where we have the required consent.

You can unsubscribe from promotional emails using the link in each message. Essential order communications will continue where necessary.

Sharing and service providers

We share information with service providers who need it to perform services for us, such as our ecommerce platform, payment processor, delivery provider, and hosting provider. We may also disclose information where required or permitted by law. We do not sell personal information.

Some providers may process information outside Canada, where it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction.

Cookies

This website currently uses only essential browser storage:

  • Shopping cart (shopify-cart): remembers the wines in your cart.
  • Age confirmation (cellar-age-confirmed): remembers that you confirmed you are of legal drinking age.
  • Cookie preferences (cellar-cookie-consent): remembers your choices on this page.

Product information and your cart are loaded from Shopify. When you continue to checkout, you move to Shopify’s secure checkout, which sets its own essential cookies under Shopify’s privacy policy. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the page loads.

We do not currently use analytics or marketing cookies. If we add them in the future, they will only run after you accept them.

Security and retention

We use safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. We retain information only as long as necessary for the purposes described above and applicable legal requirements, then securely delete or anonymize it.

Your rights and contact

You may request access to or correction of your personal information, or withdraw consent, subject to legal and contractual restrictions. We will explain if withdrawing consent prevents us from providing a service.
